(Sports Network) – Utah has very quietly pulled within a half-game of
Denver for the final postseason slot in the West.
The Jazz have split their last four games, including an important 97-88 win
over the surging Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night. Utah has won nine of its
last 12 overall.
Raja Bell led the way for the Jazz with 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting, while
Andrei Kirilenko added 21 points, eight assists, six rebounds, four blocked
shots and three steals. Carlos Arroyo chipped in 15 points and Jarron Collins
tacked on 14 in the win.
The Jazz were red hot from the field, draining 50.7 percent of their shots.
Utah finished 23-of-30 from the free throw line in the game, while owning a
slight 35-34 rebounding advantage.
Tom Gugliotta had a season high 13 rebounds and tied a season high with eight
points for the Jazz. Gugliotta was acquired from the Phoenix Suns just prior
to the trade deadline.
Utah is 2-2 on its current road swing. For the season, the Jazz own a 12-23
record in foreign buildings.
The Jazz will continue their road trip Saturday night in Atlanta. Utah won the
first and only other meeting this season between the teams this season, 92-71,
in Salt Lake City.
The Jazz have won two straight and nine of the last 11 against the Hawks.
However, Atlanta has won the last two meetings at Philips Arena.
