MRI reveals bone bruise for Jermaine O’Neal
Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) – Indiana Pacers forward and MVP candidate
Jermaine O’Neal underwent an MRI on his left knee Tuesday and the results
revealed a bone bruise.
O’Neal left Monday’s win against the Bulls in the second quarter after he
collided with Chicago’s Ronald Dupree. O’Neal banged his knee against the
rookie forward’s thigh and was helped off the court by some teammates and
taken to the locker room.
O’Neal posted four points and six rebounds before leaving. He is listed as
doubtful for Wednesday’s game against Dallas.
The 25-year-old All Star is having a sensational year for the Eastern
Conference-leading Pacers. He is averaging 20.3 points, 10.1 rebounds and
2.65 blocks over 68 games this season.
In other news, forward Jonathan Bender (right shoulder) is also not expected
to play against the Mavericks, while forward Austin Croshere (sprained left
thumb) is questionable.
