(Sports Network) – The Detroit Pistons fell to the New Orleans Hornets,
82-81, on Tuesday at New Orleans Arena.

Richard Hamilton scored 17 points to lead the Pistons, who saw their eight-
game winning streak come to an end. Ben Wallace contributed 13 points, a game-
high 15 rebounds and five blocks.

Chauncey Billups hit a three-pointer with 17 seconds remaining to give the
Pistons an 81-80 lead. After a timeout, the ball went out of bounds off a
Piston under the basket with 5.3 seconds left on the clock. Wallace then
blocked a shot by David Wesley after the pass inbounds, but Jamaal Magloire
leapt high to take the ball away from Detroit’s Lindsey Hunter near the free
throw line. Magloire leaned forward and dropped in the winning basket as time
expired.

The Pistons are in second place in the Central Division, six games behind the
Indiana Pacers.

Detroit is off until Thursday when it visits the San Antonio Spurs.It will be
the second and final meeting of the season between the two squads. On January
19, Detroit defeated the Spurs, 85-77, at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
