(Sports Network) – The Wizards’ season-long road woes were extended Tuesday
night, as they fell 85-77 to the Utah Jazz at the Delta Center.
Larry Hughes poured in a game-high 23 points on 8-of-19 shooting for the
Wizards, who have dropped two straight and nine of their last 11 games. The
Wizards last won in Utah back in the 1997 campaign.
Washington played without leading scorer Gilbert Arenas, who sat out the
contest with a sprained right ankle.
Steve Blake, coming off a career-high 21 points against the Heat on Sunday,
netted 16 in defeat to go along with his 10 rebounds. The Wizards have been
dismal on the road this season, having lost 19 of their last 21 games.
Washington’s Kwame Brown went scoreless in 29 minutes of play. Washington shot
24-of-41 from the line, while Utah converted 11-of-19.
The Wizards activated Chris Whitney from the injured list and replaced him
with first-round draft pick Jarvis Hayes, who was tallying 9.6 points and 4.0
The Wizards continue their current five-game road trip against the Los Angeles
Clippers at the Staples Center Thursday night. For the season, Washington is
just 6-27 on the road.
