(Sports Network) – Eddie Jones poured in 28 points, including 17 in the third
quarter, and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Miami Heat past the Orlando
Magic, 105-90, on Wednesday at TD Waterhouse Centre.
Dwyane Wade collected 24 points and seven assists for the Heat, who have won
six in a row and nine of their last 10 contests. Lamar Odom contributed 20
points and 14 boards for Miami, which is 1 1/2 games ahead of New York for the
sixth spot in the Eastern Conference.
Miami’s Rafer Alston sank a three-pointer in the final minute of the game and
has now made at least one three-point shot in 37 consecutive contests,
extending a franchise record.
The Heat swept the season series from the Magic for the first time ever,
finishing 4-0 against Orlando.
Miami is off until Friday when it hosts the Dallas Mavericks. It will be the
second and final meeting between the two clubs. The Heat lost to the
Mavericks, 103-93, on November 3, 2003 at American Airlines Center.
Jones has scored in double digits in three straight and 16 of his last 17
games. He has averaged 16.1 points in his last 10 contests.
