(Sports Network) – Pau Gasol scored 23 points to lead the Memphis Grizzlies
to a 111-97 win over the New York Knicks on Wednesday at Madison Square
James Posey added 17 points for the Grizzlies, who won their third straight
game and moved within a game of San Antonio for fourth place in the Western
Conference playoff race. Mike Miller chipped in 15 points, while Stromile
Swift and Bonzi Wells scored 14 and 13 points, respectively.
The Grizzlies, who are 21-2 when they score at least 100 points, also improved
to 30-9 since the start of the New Year and are a league-best 21-5 since
Memphis won for the fifth time in its last six on the road and improved to
17-17 away from home this season. The Grizz have also posted an 18-8 mark
against the Eastern Conference this year.
The Grizzlies, who have won 10 of their last 12 on the road, will return home
to face the Houston Rockets on Friday. They have won six of seven and 12 of
their last 14 at home and are 28-9 in their gym this season.
Memphis has taken two of three from the Rockets this season, but has dropped
four of the last six meetings. The Grizz, though, have dropped four of their
last five at home in the series.
