Boston, MA (Sports Network) – Ron Artest scored 22 points to lead Indiana
over Boston, 90-75, as the Pacers completed the sweep in their Eastern
Conference quarterfinal set with the Celtics. For only the second time in
NBA history, a team swept a best-of-seven series and won each game by 10-plus
points. Jermaine O’Neal netted 18 points for the Pacers, who will play the
winner in the Miami/New Orleans series in the second round. Paul Pierce
posted 27 points and 11 rebounds for the Celtics, who were eliminated
in the first round for the first time since 1995 when they fell to Orlando,
3-1. Mark Blount added 21 points and 13 boards. Despite Sunday’s point-total
for Pierce, the Celtics all-star struggled in the series as Artest and the
Pacers’ defense held him to 34 percent shooting from the field in the four
games.

Houston, TX (Sports Network) – Karl Malone scored 30 points and grabbed 13
rebounds and Shaquille O’Neal added 17 points and 12 boards to lead the Los
Angeles Lakers to a 92-88 overtime victory over the Houston Rockets in Game 4
of their Western Conference quarterfinal series at the Toyota Center. Kobe
Bryant scored six of his 18 points in overtime for the Lakers, who head back
to Los Angeles with a three-games-to-one lead in the best-of-seven
series. Jim Jackson scored 16 points and established a new career-high
with 20 rebounds for Houston. Steve Francis led the Rockets with 17
points, while Cuttino Mobley also contributed 16 points. Game 5 is scheduled
for Wednesday night at the Staple Center.

New York, NY (Sports Network) – Kenyon Martin poured in a playoff career-high
36 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, as the New Jersey Nets swept the New York
Knicks with a 100-94 victory in Game 4 in their Eastern Conference
quarterfinal series at Madison Square Garden. Jason Kidd contributed 20
points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the second-seeded Nets, who
won the best-of-seven set 4-0 and will next play either Detroit or
Milwaukee in the conference semifinals. Richard Jefferson contributed 13
points and Kerry Kittles added 10 for New Jersey, which has won 14
straight playoff games against Eastern Conference opponents dating back to
last year. Stephon Marbury scored 31 points and Anfernee Hardaway added
17 for the seventh-seeded Knicks, who lost in the first round of the
playoffs for the first time since the club fell in five games to Toronto
in the 2001 post- season.

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) – Tony Parker tied a playoff career-high with 29
points and handed out 13 assists, as the San Antonio Spurs swept the Memphis
Grizzlies with a 110-97 victory in Game 4 in their Western Conference
quarterfinal series at The Pyramid. Tim Duncan, who was celebrating his 28th
birthday, netted 26 points for the third-seeded Spurs, who won the best-of-
seven set 4-0 and will play either the Los Angeles Lakers or the Houston
Rockets in the conference semifinals. San Antonio, which is the defending NBA
champion and has won its last 15 games dating back to the regular season, also
got 14 points from Robert Horry, who made 4-of-5 shots from behind the arc.
Pau Gasol scored 22 points for the sixth-seeded Grizzlies, who were appearing
in the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. James Posey
contributed 20 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.
