Raptors name Babcock general manager

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) – The Toronto Raptors have scheduled a press
conference for Monday afternoon to announce the hiring of Rob Babcock as the
club’s general manager.

One of Babcock’s first assignments will be to find a new head coach to replace
Kevin O’Neill.

Toronto posted just a 33-49 record in 2003-04 and failed to qualify for the
playoffs in O’Neill’s only campaign with the team. He took over for Lenny
Wilkens in June of 2003. In addition, assistants Tony Brown, Bob Beyer, Jim
Sann and Ron Oliver were also relieved of their duties.

Wayne Embry and Alex English are expected to be named to front office
positions under Babcock.
