Denver Nuggets 2004 Draft Preview

(Sports Network) – Denver earned a spot in the postseason for the first time
since 1995. Rookie phenom Carmelo Anthony had a big season for the Nuggets, as
he led the team in scoring and was third in rebounding.

The Nuggets were eliminated in five games by the top-seeded Minnesota
Timberwolves in the first of the playoffs, but Denver showed that it is headed
in the right direction.

Anthony, who was the third overall pick in last year’s draft, has brought
excitement back to the Denver franchise. The Syracuse product teams up with
Marcus Camby and Nene to give the Nuggets a formidable frontline.

Andre Miller, who averaged 14.8 points and 6.1 assists in his first season
with the Nuggets, was solid at the point for Denver. He gives the Nuggets a
solid lead guard for years to come.

With the 20th overall selection, the Nuggets could be in the territory of
picking a foreign player who is not well known to their fans.

Key Player(s): Carmelo Anthony (forward), Earl Boykins (guard) Marcus Camby
(center), Andre Miller (guard), Nene (forward).

Team Needs: Depth and a scoring guard.

Draft picks: 1st round (20th overall)
