Nets waive PG Gill
East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) – The New Jersey Nets Tuesday placed
point guard Eddie Gill on waivers, less than two weeks after acquiring the
three-year veteran from the Portland Trail Blazers.
Gill was traded from Portland to New Jersey on June 24 for the 22nd overall
selection in the 2004 NBA draft and $3 million. The Trail Blazers used the
pick to take Russian forward Viktor Khryapa.
Gill averaged 2.3 points and 0.7 assists in 22 games for Portland last season.
The 25-year old played eight games for the Nets during the 2000-01 campaign
and averaged 4.9 points and 3.0 assists.
