Blount to stay in Beantown

Boston, MA (Sports Network) – Unrestricted free agent center Mark Blount has
decided to re-sign with the Boston Celtics. The deal is reported to be for $41
million over six years.

Blount was heavily sought after by the Miami Heat and the Philadelphia 76ers,
but felt it was in his best interest to return to Boston.

Philadelphia, which made an offer to the center last week, was hoping that
Blount wanted to reunite with his former coach and new Sixers head coach Jim
O’Brien.

Blount made his presence known in the second half of the season, finishing the
campaign by averaging a career-best 10.3 points, 7.2 boards and 1.3 blocks per
contest. Those numbers made Blount one of the top big men available in free
agency.
