Lakers’ George has surgery

El Segundo, CA (Sports Network) – Los Angeles Lakers forward Devean George
underwent ankle surgery on Tuesday and will likely miss the start of the
2004-05 season.

George had bone spurs and fragments removed from his left ankle and had
ligaments on the outside of his ankle reconstructed.

The Lakers said George will have his ankle immobilized for about a month and
won’t be able to play for about four months.

George played in all 82 games for the Lakers this past season and averaged 7.4
points and 4.0 rebounds. He also averaged 5.5 points in 22 playoff games for
the Western Conference champions.
