Blazers sign Hassell to offer sheet

Portland, OR (Sports Network) – The Portland Trail Blazers signed Minnesota
guard Trenton Hassell to an offer sheet on Monday. Per club policy, terms of
the deal were not disclosed, but reports have it worth $27 million over six
years.

The Timberwolves will have 15 days to match the Trail Blazers offer.

“Trenton Hassell is a versatile basketball player, who adds youth, playoff
experience and depth to our backcourt,” said Trail Blazers General Manager
John Nash.

“He is a selfless player who relishes the tough defensive assignment and has
had great success in guarding some of the top scorers in the league. He was an
outstanding scorer in college and we expect that his offensive productivity
will increase as he continues to mature and improve.”

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Hassell appeared in 81 games (74 starts) for the
Timberwolves last season. He averaged 5.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6
assists.

In three NBA seasons, the 25-year-old owns career averages of 5.9 points, 3.2
rebounds and 1.9 assists in 241 games.
