Magic sign free agent Augmon

Orlando, FL (Sports Network) – The Orlando Magic signed unrestricted free
agent swingman Stacey Augmon to a contract on Monday. Terms of the deal were
not disclosed.

The 36-year-old Augmon had spent the last two seasons with the New Orleans
Hornets. He averaged 5.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in 69 games for the Hornets
in 2003-04.

“Stacey (Augmon) was a player we expressed interest in right at the start of
the free agent process,” Orlando general manager John Weisbrod said. “He had
many options and we are excited he decided to join our team. He is a mature
leader and as good of a defender that was available.”

A 13-year veteran, Augmon has also spent time with the Atlanta Hawks, Detroit
Pistons and Portland Trail Blazers. Originally selected out of UNLV by Atlanta
in the first round (ninth pick overall) of the 1991 NBA Draft, Augmon has
averaged 8.5 points and 3.4 boards in 910 regular season contests. He has also
appeared in 77 playoff games during his career.
