Avery Johnson returning to Mavs
Dallas, TX (Sports Network) – The Dallas Mavericks signed free agent Avery
Johnson on Thursday, bringing the guard back to the team for which he played
during parts of 2002 and 2003.
Johnson was a member of Golden State last year after being traded to the
Warriors by the Mavs. He played in 46 games, averaging 4.6 points and 2.4
assists in 13.8 minutes per contest.
In 1,054 career games, Johnson owns averages of 8.4 points and 5.5 assists per
game. He has also appeared in 90 postseason games.
The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Johnson will be entering his 17th NBA season. The
highlight of Johnson’s professional career remains the 1999 NBA title as a
member of the San Antonio Spurs. He is the Spurs’ all-time leader in assists
and also ranks 27th on the NBA’s all-time assists list.
