Grizzlies make Swift move

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) – The Memphis Grizzlies Friday re-signed
forward Stromile Swift to a one-year contract. Terms of the deal were not
released.

Swift, who was a restricted free agent, averaged 9.4 points and 4.9 rebounds
in 77 games last season. The 6-foot-9, 225-pounder also swatted a career-high
118 shots.

“Obviously, this is a very important year for Stromile,” said Grizzlies
President of Basketball Operations Jerry West. “I made Stromile and his agent
numerous contract offers, and none were acceptable. We expect Stromile to go
out and have a great year, and pressure us to sign him to the type of contract
he is seeking. Even though he will be an unrestricted free agent next year, we
can bid on him, and we definitely want Stromile to remain a Grizzlie.”

The second overall pick in the 2000 NBA Draft has career averages of 8.8
points, 5.1 boards and 1.4 blocks in 292 contests.
