Nets ink Travis Best
East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) – The New Jersey Nets signed veteran
point guard Travis Best to a contract Monday. As per team policy, terms of the
deal were not disclosed.
Best, a nine-year veteran out of Georgia Tech, spent last season with Dallas
and averaged 2.8 points and 1.8 assists in 61 games.
For his career, which also included stints with Indiana, Chicago and Miami,
Best has posted 7.7 points and 3.6 assists in 632 contests. He has also
appeared in 59 playoff games, where he has averaged 7.0 points and 2.8
Best was drafted with the 23rd overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft and spent
his first six years with the Pacers before being traded to Chicago on February
19, 2002. He then signed with the Heat as a free agent and spent one year in
south Florida before playing with the Mavericks.
