Bobcats release Benjamin

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) – The expansion Charlotte Bobcats released
guard Corey Benjamin on Thursday.

Charlotte signed Benjamin as a free agent on July 29 and he appeared in three
preseason games, scoring two points and grabbing five rebounds in 23 minutes
of action.

Benjamin has bounced around since being drafted in the first round by the
Chicago Bulls in 1998. He played 144 games with Chicago, averaging 5.5 points
and 1.5 boards per outing.

He then played with teams in Italy, France and in U.S. developmental leagues,
and also enjoyed a brief stint with the Atlanta Hawks during the 2002-03
season.
