Nuggets pick up option on Nene

Denver, CO (Sports Network) – The Denver Nuggets exercised the fourth-year
option on the contract of forward Nene on Friday.

Originally selected by the New York Knicks with the seventh overall pick of
the 2002 NBA Draft, Nene was acquired by the Nuggets in a draft-day trade. He
has averaged 11.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in his first two seasons
in Denver and is under contract through the 2005-06 season.

Last season, the 6-foot-11, 260-pound Nene averaged 11.8 points and 6.5
rebounds in 77 games.

In addition, the team declined the fourth-year option on the contract of
Nikoloz Tskitishvili. The forward has appeared in 120 games for the Nuggets in
his first two seasons, averaging 3.5 ppg and 2.0 rpg.
