East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) – The New Jersey Nets Saturday
signed center Jason Collins to a multi-year contract extension. As per team
policy, terms were not disclosed.

Last season, Collins averaged 5.9 points and 5.1 rebounds in 78 games.

“Jason has been an integral member of this team for the past three seasons,”
team president Rod Thorn said. “He is an intelligent player who can play
multiple positions and one who has worked diligently to improve every facet of
his game since he came into the league. We are very pleased that he will be
with the Nets for the foreseeable future.”

The seven-footer, who was acquired from the Rockets in a draft-day trade in
2001, is set to begin his fourth NBA season.
