Dallas Mavericks Team Report – November 3

=== Dallas Mavericks Team Report – November 3 ===

(Sports Network) – The Dallas Mavericks play their second of the 2004-05
regular season tonight, as they visit the Hornets at the New Orleans Arena.

New Orleans will compete in the Southwest Division this season, as the Hornets
became the newest member of the Western Conference when the expansion
Charlotte Bobcats were placed in the East, giving each conference 15 clubs
comprised of three divisions of five teams.

The Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs are
the other teams that makeup what could be the toughest division in the league.
In fact, all five teams in the Southwest qualified for the 2004 playoffs.

Dallas got its season off on a positive note on Tuesday, as Dirk Nowitzki
played all but five minutes and finished with a game-high 33 points along with
10 rebounds to lead the Mavericks over the Sacramento Kings, 107-98, at
American Airlines Center.

Michael Finley added 18 points and six boards for Dallas, which avenged a
first-round loss in last season’s playoffs to the Kings. Devin Harris, a
rookie who took over for Steve Nash running the offense, had eight points and
seven assists in his debut.

The Mavericks have won five of their last six season-openers and six straight
home-openers.

Dallas won both of its matchups with the Hornets last season, and has won nine
straight in the series with its last loss to then coming back on November 17,
1999. The Mavericks have also won four straight on the Hornets court.
