New Orleans Hornets Team Report – November 4

=== New Orleans Hornets Team Report – November 4 ===

(Sports Network) – The Byron Scott era in New Orleans got off to a losing
start on Wednesday, as the Hornets dropped their season-opener 106-91 to the
Dallas Mavericks at New Orleans Arena.

Baron Davis poured in a game-high 25 points and handed out nine assists for
New Orleans, which fell to 8-9 all-time on opening night, including a 6-7 mark
at home. David Wesley and Jamaal Magloire each scored 11 in the setback.

Scott was hired in the offseason after Tim Floyd was fired following the
season.

Dallas started the third quarter on an 8-2 spurt, making it 62-47 with 8:29
left in the third. The Hornets, though, responded with a 13-4 run to pull
within 66-60 on Davis’ bucket with under five minutes remaining in the stanza.

However, that was as close as New Orleans would get the rest of the way as the
Mavericks closed out the third quarter on a 17-9 flurry. The lead would
balloon to 21 points after Jerry Stackhouse’s dunk pushed the Mavericks
advantage to 95-74 with 6:30 left in the contest.

New Orleans will host the Orlando Magic on Friday.
