=== Washington Wizards Team Report – November 7 ===

(Sports Network) – The Washington Wizards suffered their first loss of the
season on Saturday, as they fell to the Miami Heat 118-106 in front of their
home crowd.

Gilbert Arenas led the Wizards with 27 points and Larry Hughes added 26.
Antawn Jamison chipped in 24 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for
Washington, which suffered its first loss of the season (2-1).

Wade’s basket early in the game staked Miami to an 18-8 advantage and the Heat
eventually led by a 27-17 score after the first stanza. In the second quarter,
the Wizards cut the lead to 41-37 on a three-pointer by Arenas but got no
closer and trailed 58-48 at halftime.

The Wizards continued to shave the lead in the third and made it 62-59 on
Jamison’s three and a pair of Arenas free throws in succession. Jamison was
hot and his three later tied the game at 66 apiece with four minutes left.
Miami, though, held an 82-75 edge after 36 minutes of action.

Jarvis Hayes’ jumper got the Wizards within 88-86 with less than 10 minutes to
go in the game, but Miami scored six in a row for a 94-86 cushion. Washington
wouldn’t go down without a fight and tied the game at 99-99 on Hughes’ dunk
with 3:40 remaining.

Each squad went back-and-forth and the game was knotted at 102-102. Miami then
turned up the heat and ended the game on a 16-2 run for the 12-point win.

Jamison, who was acquired from Dallas in the offseason, has averaged 27.3
points and eight rebounds in his first three games in a Wizards uniform.

The Wizards are off until Tuesday when they visit the Heat in the second game
of the home-and-home set.
