(Sports Network) – Paul Pierce scored 28 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and
dished out eight assists to lead the Boston Celtics over the New York Knicks,
107-73, on Saturdayat Madison Square Garden.

Pierce, who was held to only 15 points on 5-of-14 shooting in Friday night’s
loss to Indiana, shot 10-of-18 from the floor, including 2-of-4 from three-
point range, as the Celtics won for the first time in three tries under new
head coach Doc Rivers.

Ricky Davis added 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting for the Celtics, who finally
held on to a second-half lead. The club had relinquished an 18-point second-
half lead in its opening loss to Philadelphia and a six-point fourth-quarter
advantage to Indiana.

Boston outrebounded the Knicks 45-31.

Pierce has averaged 26 points, nine rebounds and 7.7 assists in his first
three games of the season.

The Celtics are off until Wednesday when they host Zach Randolph and the
Portland Trail Blazers. Last season, the Blazers swept their two meetings
with the Celtics.
