(Sports Network) – Kevin Garnett had 29 points and 15 rebounds and Latrell
Sprewell scored seven points during a late key run to lift the Minnesota
Timberwolves past the New Orleans Hornets, 99-92, on Saturday at the Target

The Hornets led 80-79, before Wally Szczerbiak hit a jumper to give Minnesota
the lead for good, at 81-80. Then Sprewell, who finished the game with 14
points, scored seven down the stretch to lift the Timberwolves to the victory.
Garnett also had eight of his points in just over a minute at the end of the

David Wesley nailed a three-pointer with 15.5 seconds left to pull New Orleans
to 95-92, but Minnesota closed it out with a streak of free throws.

All-Star Sam Cassell finished with 15 points for the Timberwolves, while
Szczerbiak netted 11. Minnesota outrebounded the Hornets, 44-31, in the

Garnett, who was the NBA’s MVP last season, has averaged 27.3 points, 16.7
rebounds and six assists in his first three games of the season.

The Timberwolves are off until Tuesday when they host the Indiana Pacers. Last
season, the teams split a pair of contests.
