(Sports Network) – The New Orleans Hornets lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves
99-92 on Saturday at the Target Center.

The Hornets led 80-79, before Wally Szczerbiak hit a jumper to give Minnesota
the lead for good, at 81-80. Then Latrell Sprewell, who finished the game with
14 points, scored seven down the stretch to lift the Timberwolves to victory.
Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett had eight of his points in just over a minute at
the end of the game.

David Wesley nailed a three-pointer with 15.5 seconds left to pull New Orleans
to 95-92, but Minnesota closed it out with a streak of free throws.

Baron Davis collected 21 points and 12 assists, while Wesley scored 21 points
on 7-for-18 shooting for the Hornets, who fell to 0-3 under first-year coach
Byron Scott.

Davis has averaged 27.3 points and 9.3 assists in New Orleans’ three losses,
while Wesley has contributed 15 points per contest.

The Hornets are off until Tuesday when they host Kobe Bryant and the Los
Angeles Lakers. Last season, the teams split a pair of games.
