(Sports Network) – Pau Gasol scored 22 points and Shane Battier added 18 as
Memphis earned its first victory of the season with a 110-87 whipping of the
Los Angeles Lakers at FedEx Forum.

Jason Williams compiled 17 points and six assists for the Grizzlies, who began
the year with four consecutive defeats. Williams now needs just 13 more
assists to pass Mike Bibby for most in franchise history.

The Memphis bench contributed 47 points to the winning cause, with Mike Miller
netting 13 and Dahntay Jones 12. The win for the Grizz was their first in 13
games dating back to last season.

The Grizzlies, who shot 46.4 percent (39-of-84) from the floor, went ahead by
as many as 32 points when Battier buried a short jumper with 7:47 to play
which made the score 101-67.

Memphis was again without forward James Posey, who missed his second straight
game with a sprained left foot.

The Grizzlies will return to the court on Friday when they host the Golden
State Warriors.
