(Sports Network) – The Nets dropped a 94-78 decision to the Dallas Mavericks
at Continental Airlines Arena on Saturday.

Richard Jefferson paced the Nets with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Zoran
Planinic netted a career-high 16 points and added nine boards for New Jersey,
which has dropped two straight. Eric Williams collected 15 points and seven
rebounds in the loss.

The game was tied with 7:36 left in the third quarter, before Dallas went on a
13-2 burst, keyed by eight points from Jerry Stackhouse, to take a 66-55 lead.
New Jersey hardly challenged down the stretch.

Prior to the game, the Nets placed guard Ron Mercer on the injured list with a
left knee injury. He is scheduled for surgery on Monday and could be out of
action for up to four weeks.

New Jersey has a day off before hosting the Houston Rockets on Monday night.
