(Sports Network) – Carlos Boozer’s 20 points and 13 rebounds helped lead the
Utah Jazz to a 108-93 win over the Detroit Pistons at the Delta Center.
Mehmet Okur, playing against his former team for the first time, had 19 points
and seven rebounds for the Jazz, who rebounded from Wednesday’s loss to
Toronto and improved to 5-1 on the young season.
Andrei Kirilenko netted 17 points and Gordan Giricek added 15 for Utah, which
led 28-23 after one quarter and outscored the Pistons 34-19 in the second to
take a 20-point lead into halftime. Utah would cruise the rest of the way.
Howard Eisley and Raja Bell finished with 11 points apiece for the Jazz, who
shot 59 percent (41-of-70), going 4-of-9 from three-point range.
Utah went 22-of-28 from the free throw line, while the Pistons were 18-of-19.
The Utah bench outscored the Detroit reserves, 45-14.
The Jazz, who are 5-1 and tied atop the Northwest Division with Seattle, have
the next two days off before hitting the road for a four-game trip.
