(Sports Network) – Peja Stojakovic scored a game-high 29 points to lead the
Sacramento Kings over the Chicago Bulls, 113-106, on Tuesday at ARCO Arena.
Mike Bibby added 27 points, while Chris Webber posted 19 points and 13
rebounds for the Kings, who won for the third time in as many games.
In the third quarter, the Kings took a commanding lead by outscoring the
Bulls, 30-14, in the frame. In the quarter, the Kings went on a 22-4 run to
give them a 76-59 advantage. Webber capped off the spurt on a free throw with
3:58 remaining and Sacramento would take a 82-67 edge into the fourth.
Chicago got to nine in the fourth with about four minutes left to play, but
could get no closer. Stojakovic drilled back-to-back triples in the fourth
quarter to seal the victory.
The Kings lost the battle on the glass, 52-40, but forced 18 turnovers.
Sacramento has won 11 straight meetings in this series. Chicago’s last win
over Sacramento was on February 28, 1998. The last time the Bulls defeated the
Kings on the road was on November 23, 1997.
Stojakovic has scored 22 or more points in three straight games. He is
averaging 19.3 points in Sacramento’s eight games this season.
The Kings are off until Friday when they host the Memphis Grizzlies. Last
season, the teams split four games.
