(Sports Network) – The Dallas Mavericks lost to the Phoenix Suns, 107-101, on
Tuesday at AmericanAirlines Center.

In his first return to Dallas after playing seven years for the Mavericks,
Steve Nash tallied 17 points and 18 assists for the Suns, who snapped a brief
two-game losing streak.

Coming into the game, Phoenix had lost seven straight and 10 of its last 11 at
Dallas, but walked off the court with its first road win versus the Mavericks
since January 13, 2001.

Jerry Stackhouse netted 21 points off the bench for the Mavericks, who fell
for the first time in four games and only the second time in nine games this
season. Dirk Nowitzki posted 20 points and 16 boards in the team’s first road
defeat of the season.

The Mavericks also lost two key players to injuries on Tuesday. Center Erick
Dampier left with a strained hip and guard Jason Terry suffered a sprained

Nowitzki has scored 20 or more points in eight-of-nine games this season. He
is averaging 27 points and 10.4 rebounds.

Dallas is off until Friday when it hosts Stephon Marbury and the New York
Knicks. Last season, the Mavericks swept the two meetings with the Knicks.
