New York Knicks Team Report – November 17

=== New York Knicks Team Report – November 17 ===

(Sports Network) – The New York Knicks lost to the San Antonio Spurs, 99-81,
on Tuesday at the SBC Center.

Jamal Crawford paced the Knicks with a team-high 16 points. Stephon Marbury
and Nazr Mohammed each added 13, while Tim Thomas scored 15 for New York,
which has lost four-of-six to open the 2004-05 campaign.
Kurt Thomas had eight points with 11 rebounds in a losing cause.

The Spurs led 50-44 at halftime. New York attempted to get back in the contest
and trimmed the deficit to 54-52 on a tip-in by Mohammed with eight minutes
left in the third. Tim Duncan, though, drained a turnaround jumper that
ignited a 13-4 run for the Spurs, and the lead rarely fell below 10 points
thereafter. Duncan’s dunk capped the spurt, making it 67-56 with 3:41
remaining in the frame.

The margin ballooned to 19 points at 98-79 after Brent Barry drained a wide
open trey at the top of the key with 2:36 left in the contest. New York never
recovered from that point on.

Crawford, who was acquired from the Chicago Bulls in the offseason, has
averaged 15 points and three assists in six games in a New York uniform.

The Knicks are off until Thursday when they visit Yao Ming and the Houston
Rockets at the Toyota Center. Last season, the Rockets swept the two meetings
between the clubs.
