=== Boston Celtics Team Report – November 18 ===

(Sports Network) – The Boston Celtics suffered their first loss in four
tries on Wednesday, as they dropped a 110-105 overtime decision against the
Washington Wizards at the MCI Center.

Paul Pierce poured in a game-high 37 points, including 18-of-20 from the foul
line for Boston, which is 3-3 on the young season. Gary Payton chipped in 17
— all in the second half — and Ricky Davis collected 14 in the loss.

Antawn Jamison’s jumper nearly two minutes into overtime gave the Wizards the
lead for good as Washington jumped out to a 106-100 lead courtesy of a 6-0
spurt to start the frame. Boston did not get a field goal until there were 13
seconds left in the extra session and missed its first six shots in overtime.

The Celtics scored as many points in the third quarter (42) as they did in the
first two periods combined at Washington.

Center Mark Blount scored just six points in 41 minutes before fouling out
down the stretch. Veterans Tom Gugliotta and Walter McCarty both failed to
score. McCarty played 14 minutes and Gugliotta 11.

Boston returns to action on Friday when they open a two-game homestand versus
the San Antonio Spurs. The Celts will conclude the stand against the Seattle
SuperSonics on Sunday.
