(Sports Network) – Dirk Nowitzki scored a game-high 30 points and grabbed 12
rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks held off the New York Knicks, 103-101, at
American Airlines Center.

Josh Howard added 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Mavericks, who have won
four of five. Jerry Stackhouse tallied 19 points, six rebounds and six
assists, as Dallas survived a final-second flurry.

Nowitzki has scored 20 or more points in nine-of-10 games this season. He
is averaging 27.3 points and 10.6 rebounds.

Center Erick Dampier and guard Jason Terry missed the game with injuries.
Dampier has a strained left hip flexor and Terry has a sprained right ankle.
Both are expected to miss Sunday’s game against the Denver Nuggets, as well.

Last season, Dallas split its two matchups with the Nuggets, but has
won 10 of 12 and 16 of the last 19 meetings. The Mavs have also won
five of six and seven of their last nine in Denver.
