No Answer for Sixers Sunday in Miami

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) – Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson
will miss Sunday’s game against the Miami Heat, thanks to a right elbow

The star point guard was injured in the final minutes of Thursday’s game
against the Spurs, which San Antonio won 88-80.

Iverson is averaging 26.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 7.2 assists in nine games
this season. Iverson’s loss is not good news for a Sixers’ offense that has
failed to reach the century mark in points in three straight games. On
Thursday, the Sixers missed their first 16 shots and scored a franchise-low
six points in the first quarter. Philadelphia connected on just 3-of-25 shots
from the field in the opening 12 minutes of the contest.

X-rays on Iverson’s elbow were negative. Sixers’ coach Jim O’Brien decided to
sit Iverson Sunday to allow him a full five days of rest before their next
game, which is Wednesday against the Celtics.

The 2000-01 league MVP was the top overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft.
Iverson earned Rookie of the Year honors following the 1996-97 campaign and is
also a three-time NBA scoring champion.
