(Sports Network) – Jamal Crawford had 13 of his 24 points in the fourth
quarter, leading the New York Knicks past Cleveland, 98-88, and ending the
Cavaliers’ winning streak at six games.

Kurt Thomas added 16 points, 12 rebounds and solid interior defense against
the Cavaliers. Stephon Marbury had 12 points and 10 assists for the Knicks,
who halted a five-game losing streak against Cleveland. New York had dropped
two straight at the Garden against the Cavaliers.

Anfernee Hardaway had 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting, as the Knicks connected
from the field at a 53 percent clip en route to the victory. New York had lost
three of its last four contests coming in.

After an even first quarter, the Knicks outscored the Cavaliers 29-16 in the
second to take a 13-point cushion into the intermission at 51-38.

But the Knicks nearly coughed up the entire lead in the third quarter, thanks
to poor transition defense. Cleveland outscored the Knicks 33-22 in the third,
to make it a two-point New York lead entering the fourth.

Crawford then caught fire, scoring 11 points in the opening 5:20 of the fourth
quarter. He capped a 18-10 run with a jumper to make it 91-81 with 6:40
remaining in the game. The Cavaliers never got closer than eight points the
rest of the way.

The Knicks activated point guard Jamison Brewer and placed guard Moochie
Norris on the injured list prior to the game.

New York guard Allan Houston, out since late last season with chronic knee
soreness, participated in the team’s morning shootaround but has not yet been
cleared to scrimmage.

The Knicks return to action on Tuesday when they host Atlanta Hawks.
