Memphis, TN (Sports Network) – Bonzi Wells scored a season-high 26 points,
hitting the go-ahead three-pointer with under a minute to play, leading the
Memphis Grizzlies to a 93-90 win over the San Antonio Spurs at FedEx Forum.
Wells shot 10-of-17 from the field for the Grizzlies, who have won two in a
row. Lorenzen Wright added a 10 points and 10 rebounds for Memphis, which has
won five of seven after dropping its first four games. Tim Duncan finished
with 26 points and nine boards, but missed a pair of baskets down the
stretch, as the Spurs dropped its second straight following a six-game win
streak. Tony Parker added 18 points for San Antonio, which has dropped three
in a row to Memphis dating back to last season.

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) – Kevin Garnett made two free throws with five
seconds remaining to end his scoreless fourth quarter, lifting the Minnesota
Timberwolves to an 83-82 come-from-behind win over the Dallas Mavericks at
American Airlines Center. Garnett finished one assist away from a triple-
double with 21 points, 17 rebounds and nine helpers. Sam Cassell added 16
points for the Timberwolves, who overcame a 12-point deficit in the final 4
1/2 minutes for their fourth victory in five games. Josh Howard had a game-
high 22 points with eight rebounds while rookie point guard Devin Harris
scored 14. Marquis Daniels struggled with his shot (5-for-18), but still
managed a solid all-around game with 11 points, 10 boards and five assists.

Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) – Lee Nailon finished with 16 points,
hitting a pair of free throws to put the Hornets ahead with 1:42 remaining,
lifting New Orleans to its first win of the season, 76-75, over the Utah Jazz
at the Delta Center. Nailon also drained an important basket with 44
seconds left to give the Hornets a 76-73 lead and end their worst start in
franchise history. Jamaal Magloire had 20 points and 11 rebounds for the
Hornets, who blew a 19- point third-quarter lead but came through down the
stretch to win the opener of their five-game road trip and end their worst
losing streak in 11 years. Andrei Kirilenko finished with 18 points, nine
rebounds and seven blocks for Utah, which failed to pick up the win on the

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) – Shawn Marion finished with 21 points and a
season-high 16 rebounds to lead Phoenix to a 100-82 win over Chicago at
America West Arena. Amare Stoudemire contributed 21 points, six rebounds and
five assists for the Suns, who posted their fifth straight victory for
the first time in two seasons. Steve Nash chipped in with 15 points and six
assists. Ben Gordon — who hit 7-of-16 shots from the field — scored a
career-high 20 points off the bench for the Bulls, who tied the franchise
record by losing nine games to start a season. They also accomplished the
feat to open the 1967-68 campaign. Eddy Curry added 17 points for Chicago,
which has dropped seven straight in Phoenix.
