(Sports Network) – The Dallas Mavericks will travel to Memphis this evening
to battle the Grizzlies at FedExForum.
The Mavericks were able to snap a three-game losing streak on Friday, as
they posted a 92-83 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.
Dirk Nowitzki scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Dallas to the
win at American Airlines Arena.
Josh Howard added 20 points and 10 boards while Marquis Daniels chipped in 15
points for the Mavericks. Erick Dampier had 11 points and 11 rebounds in the
Dallas led 68-65 after three quarters, but Howard’s three-pointer with 6 1/2
minutes left in the game widened the margin to six points. A basket by
Nowitzki moments later made it a 79-71 contest and Terry’s field goal with
just under three minutes left extended the margin to 10. The Trail Blazers got
within 88-83 in the closing seconds, but could not get any closer.
The victory improved Dallas’ home record to 5-2 on the young season.
The Mavericks posted an easy 112-88 victory over the Grizzlies on November 6,
marking the 12th straight time in the series that the winning team has scored
over 100 points. Dallas has won 14 of 16 and 17 of the last 20 meetings. The
Mavs are 14-3 all-time on the road against the Grizzlies, who were based in
Vancouver prior to the 2001-02 season.
