Rockets activate Sura; place Ward on IL

Houston, TX (Sports Network) – The Houston Rockets activated guard Bob
Sura and placed guard Charlie Ward on the injured list prior to Saturday’s
82-76 loss to Denver.

Sura, who signed with the Rockets as a free agent in August, had six points
and six assists in his debut with the club. The 10th-year veteran had missed
the team’s first 14 games after undergoing surgery in September to repair a
herniated disk in his lower back.

Ward is suffering from a bruised right knee which caused him to miss the
Rockets’ game with Sacramento on Tuesday. The former Heisman trophy winner did
return to action Friday in a loss to Utah.

Ward has started 13 games at point guard for the Rockets this season and is
averaging 5.8 points and 3.2 assists.

Sura split time last year with Detroit and Atlanta and averaged 7.5 points,
4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists over 80 games.
