(Sports Network) – The struggling Houston Rockets were handed a home loss by
the Denver Nuggets on Saturday evening.
Andre Miller racked up 20 points, seven rebounds and seven assists to lead
Denver to an 82-76 decision over Houston at the Toyota Center.
Tracy McGrady finished with 14 points and seven assists for the Rockets, who
have dropped three in a row. Scott Padgett also contributed 14 points off the
Yao Ming had his second straight disappointing game, as he posted eight points
and six rebounds in the loss. Yao has a total of 17 points in his last two
games after averaging 21.6 points in his previous five contests.
Prior to the game, Houston activated guard Bob Sura and placed guard Charlie
Ward on the injured list.
Sura, who signed with the Rockets as a free agent in August, had six points
and six assists in his debut with the club. The 10th-year veteran had missed
the team’s first 14 games after undergoing surgery in September to repair a
herniated disk in his lower back.
Ward is suffering from a bruised right knee which caused him to miss the
Rockets’ game with Sacramento on Tuesday. The former Heisman trophy winner did
return to action Friday in a loss to Utah.
The Rockets will try to snap their skid on Tuesday night with a home game
against the Detroit Pistons.
