Charlotte Bobcats Team Report – December 1

=== Charlotte Bobcats Team Report – December 1 ===

(Sports Network) – The expansion Charlotte Bobcats again found themselves in
the loss column on Tuesday, as they dropped a 99-86 decision to the woeful New
Jersey Nets at Continental Airlines Arena.

Rookie Emeka Okafor notched the best game of his young career with 26 points
and 12 boards for Charlotte, which entered the game following its third-ever
victory on Saturday. Jason Hart added 15 points in the setback.

In the third quarter, the Bobcats erased a somewhat large deficit and moved
within single digits when Melvin Ely’s turnaround jumper made it 62-54 with
over five minutes remaining. However, two straight Nets baskets created a
66-54 New Jersey advantage.

A pair of Charlotte foul shots brought it within 70-60, but Zoran Planinic hit
a running layup to end the frame and the Nets took a 12-point cushion into the
final quarter.

Okafor’s basket with 8:15 remaining was answered by a long jumper by Aaron
Williams, who followed that up with a thundering dunk off a nice pick-and-roll
to give the Nets a commanding 83-68 lead and they never looked back.

Charlotte, which shot just 42 percent from the floor, will return to action on
Saturday when they host the New York Knicks.
