Charlotte Bobcats Team Report – December 7

=== Charlotte Bobcats Team Report – December 7 ===

(Sports Network) – The Charlotte Bobcats dropped a 99-93 double overtime
decision to the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday at the Staples Center.

Jason Kapono and Primoz Brezec netted 14 points for the Bobcats, who are a
respectable 3-3 their last six times out. Brezec grabbed eight rebounds, seven
less than first-round pick Emeka Okafor, who added 12 points.

The Clippers opened the second overtime with four consecutive points for a
93-89 edge. After a jumper by Kapono, Chris Kaman scored a crucial bucket from
the paint to restore the four-point margin.

Okafor made a pair from the charity stripe to get Charlotte back within two,
but Bobby Simmons’ baseline jumper with 10 ticks left cemented the victory.

The Bobcats tallied the initial four points of the first extra session, but
the score was all square at 85 apiece with 90 seconds to go. Corey Maggette
then hit back-to-back jumpers for a four-point lead, but his turnover let
Charlotte right back in it.

A long jumper by Kapono cut the margin in half and Maggette, with a chance to
virtually put the game away with time running down, was stripped by Brevin
Knight. Knight sprinted downcourt for a breakaway layup with 11 seconds to go,
forcing a second overtime.

Charlotte plays the second of a four-game road trip tonight against the
Sacramento Kings.

Okafor has recorded seven straight double-doubles and is averaging 18.4 points
and 13 rebounds in that span.

The Bobcats are 0-7 on the road this season.
