Clippers’ Brand suspended one game
New York, NY (Sports Network) – Los Angeles Clippers forward Elton Brand was
suspended Tuesday for one game by the NBA for shoving Charlotte’s Emeka Okafor
during the fourth quarter of Monday night’s game.
The incident occurred when Brand turned around and delivered a hard shove to
Okafor’s face and was immediately ejected. The foul was judged a category two
Brand, who is in his sixth season, will sit out Friday night’s game against
the Los Angeles Lakers.
The 25-year-old Brand is averaging 18.7 points and 8.1 rebounds in 18 contests
this season. For his career, which included a brief two-year stint with the
Chicago Bulls, Brand has posted 19.4 points and 10.5 rebounds per outing.
The Duke product was initially selected by Chicago with the No. 1 overall pick
in the 1999 NBA Draft.
