(Sports Network) – The Wizards fell out of first place on Wednesday night, as
they dropped a 111-105 decision to the Denver Nuggets at the MCI Center.

Gilbert Arenas paced the Wizards with 28 points. Antwan Jamison added 27
points with 11 rebounds for Washington, which had its four-game winning streak
snapped.

Larry Hughes contributed 15 for the Wizards, who were looking for their best
16-game start since 1974. During the 1974-75 season, the Wizards opened their
season with an 11-5 mark and eventually posted a franchise-record 60 wins.

Jarvis Hayes chipped in 10 points off the bench for the Wizards.

The Wizards placed guard Steve Blake on the injured list with a strained left
arch, and activated Laron Profit.

The Wizards fell to 5-3 at home this season, while the Nuggets improved to 2-3
on the road in 2004.
