=== Los Angeles Lakers Team Report – December 18 ===

(Sports Network) – The Lakers dropped a 120-116 overtime decision to the
Washington Wizards on Friday night at the Staples Center.

Washington overcame a triple-double by Kobe Bryant to snap an 11-game losing
streak in Los Angeles against the Lakers, dating back to 1992. Bryant had 36
points, 10 rebounds and a season-high 14 assists. Chucky Atkins had a season-
high 23 points in a losing cause.

Gilbert Arenas missed a running bank shot in the final minute of regulation,
then was off-target on an 18-footer as time expired that would have won the
game for the Wizards. Instead, the game went to overtime tied at 104 apiece.

Larry Hughes hit a jumper to put the Wizards up in overtime. Arenas and Jared
Jeffries hit back-to-back baskets later in the extra session to put Washington
up 112-106.

Bryant nailed a three-pointer to pull the Lakers within three, but Larry
Hughes hit another jumper with 1:41 left in overtime to build the Washington
lead to 114-109. Los Angeles got as close as one in the final minute, but
ended up coming up short.

Bryant notched his fourth triple-double of the season and the 13th of his
career.

This was the first overtime game of Rudy Tomjanovich’s Lakers’ head coaching
tenure. Despite the loss, the Lakers’ 116 points was a season high.

The Lakers have the weekend off before hosting Memphis on Monday night. Los
Angeles is in the midst of a season-high six-game homestand.
