Knicks place Crawford on injured list
New York, NY (Sports Network) – The New York Knicks placed guard Jamal
Crawford on the injured list Sunday with right turf toe.
Crawford suffered the injury in the third quarter of Wednesday’s 114-109 loss
to Boston when he was stepped on by the Celtics’ Jiri Welsch.
The loss of Crawford is a costly one to the Knicks, who currently lead the
wide-open Atlantic Division by a half-game over Boston with Philadelphia 1 1/2
games behind. The 24-year-old is putting together his best season, averaging a
career-high 19.3 points along with 3.7 assists through 26 contests.
Crawford was acquired by New York along with guard Jerome Williams in an
offseason trade with Chicago for Dikembe Mutombo, Othella Harrington, Frank
Williams and Cezary Trybanskithe. He averaged 17.3 points and 5.1 assists for
the Bulls a year ago.
The Knicks activated guard Jamison Brewer to fill the roster spot. Brewer
missed the last 10 games with tendinitis in his right big toe.
