Charlotte Bobcats Team Report – December 27

=== Charlotte Bobcats Team Report – December 27 ===

(Sports Network) – The Charlotte Bobcats try to get back on the winning track
this evening when they visit the Washington Wizards at the MCI Center.

Charlotte dropped a 91-82 decision to the New York Knicks on Sunday at Madison
Square Garden. Emeka Okafor netted 23 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the
expansion Bobcats, who have dropped two of three.

Okafor has recorded a double-double in 15 straight games, a feat that has not
been matched by a rookie since Shaquille O’Neal did it in 1992-93 with the
Orlando Magic. Okafor has 16 double-doubles on the season.

New York led by 16 early in the fourth quarter, but the Bobcats did not go
away quietly. Charlotte cut the deficit to 79-77 with 4:24 left on a three-
pointer by Steve Smith. However, the Bobcats could get no closer as Tim Thomas
responded with four straight points to make it an 83-79 affair with 3:10
remaining.

Charlotte turned the ball over 19 times in the loss and shot just 38-percent
from the field.

The Bobcats, who are winless in seven tries versus the Eastern Conference, are
just 1-11 away from home this season.

Washington defeated the Hornets earlier in the season and will play Charlotte
two more times after this.
