(Sports Network) – Detroit ruined Vince Carter’s New Jersey debut on Monday
night, posting a 100-90 overtime win at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Richard Hamilton scored five of his season-high 37 points in overtime to pace
the Pistons to the victory. Tayshaun Prince chipped in 18 points, nine
rebounds and seven assists for Detroit, which has won two in a row and seven
of its last 11 contests. Chauncey Billups collected 13 points and nine assists
in the win.

After Richard Jefferson opened the extra session with a 17-foot jumper,
Detroit countered with a 9-0 spurt, highlighted by Ben Wallace’s dunk, to grab
a 96-89 lead with just 1:01 left.

Jefferson then sank 1-of-2 foul shots to make it a six-point game and New
Jersey fouled Billups at the other end with 44 seconds remaining. Billups
proceeded to hit both free throws to seal it. Hamilton added two more foul
shots to account for the final margin.

Ben Wallace finished with eight points and a season-high 18 boards in the
winning effort.

The Pistons improved to 4-0 in overtime this season. Detroit has a day off
before heading to Washington to take on the Washington Wizards at the MCI
Center on Wednesday evening.
