(Sports Network) – Bryon Russell hit two foul shots in the final minute to
lift Denver to a 97-92 win over Philadelphia at the Pepsi Center.

Carmelo Anthony finished with 24 points and eight rebounds for the Nuggets,
who snapped a six-game losing streak in their debut under interim head coach
Michael Cooper, who replaced the fired Jeff Bzdelik earlier this week.

DerMarr Johnson tied a season high with 18 points.

Nene contributed 16 points and 12 rebounds for Denver, which overcame an 11-
point deficit in the fourth quarter. Anthony’s two three-pointers in 86
seconds capped an eight-point burst, and Johnson’s foul shot with 5:48 to go
capped a 15-3 run that put it ahead 82-81.

The teams traded leads before Russell hit two foul shots with 33.2 seconds
remaining to put the Nuggets ahead 93-91. Allen Iverson was then fouled 11
seconds later, but made one-of-two from the foul line to get his team within

Johnson converted one of two foul shots with 20.6 seconds left to put the
Nuggets ahead 94-92.

Then Iverson missed a running one-hander in the lane on Philadelphia’s next
possession. Kyle Korver missed a potential game-tying three-pointer on its
next offensive set with 1.6 to go.

Denver returns to action on Sunday against the Los Angeles Lakers.
