attack, scoring 17 points, as the Nets beat their cross-river rivals the New
York Knicks, 93-87, at Madison Square Garden. Vince Carter added 16 points for
New Jersey, which had a total of five players score in double figures. Jason
Kidd and Rodney Buford tallied 13 points each and Nenad Kristic recorded 12
points and seven boards for the Nets, who have won four of six. Stephon
Marbury had a game-high 31 points and dished out eight assists, but it wasn’t
enough for the Knicks, who had a three-game win streak halted. Nazr Mohammed
added 18 points and 13 boards for New York.

first half to lead Miami to a 113-90 win over Charlotte at AmericanAirlines
Arena. Wade converted 11-of-16 shots from the field and dished out nine
assists for the Heat, who extended their franchise-high winning streak to 14
games. Shaquille O’Neal finished with 16 points, while Eddie Jones delivered
11 of his 13 points in the third quarter. Emeka Okafor posted 17 points and 10
rebounds for the Bobcats, who have lost six of their last seven and 10 of 13.
Jason Hart contributed 14 points.

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) – Pau Gasol scored 23 points, including 16
during a decisive third quarter, as the Memphis Grizzlies earned a rare road
victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, 104-95. Earl Watson chipped in 20
points and dished out eight assists for the Grizzlies, who rallied from a
double-digit deficit in the third quarter to improve to 3-17 all-time at the
Target Center. Bonzi Wells added 18 points and eight rebounds in the team’s
third straight win. Kevin Garnett poured in a game-high 30 points with 10
rebounds for the Timberwolves, losers in four of their last five contests.

Kirk Hinrich delivered 18 points and nine assists for the Bulls, who snapped a
two-game losing streak. Ben Gordon also scored 18 points. Grant Hill notched a
team-high 16 points for the Magic, who have lost five straight on the road and
three in a row overall. Kelvin Cato returned from a shoulder injury and
registered 13 points while Steve Francis added 12.

Portland, OR (Sports Network) – Shareef Abdur-Rahim finished with 26 points
and nine rebounds to lead Portland to a 97-88 win over Golden State at the
Rose Garden. Damon Stoudamire — who hit 4-of-4 three-pointers — scored 19
points for the Trail Blazers, who snapped their two-game losing streak.
Ruben Patterson contributed 19 points and nine boards. Troy Murphy delivered
19 points and 17 rebounds for the Warriors, who had their four-game winning
streak snapped. Mike Dunleavy posted 12 points and 11 boards. Clifford
Robinson also scored 12 points for Golden State, which played without injured
guard Jason Richardson.
